Young active citizens are the heart of Smart & Innovative City solutions! It’s about achieving social, environmental and economic sustainability for our cities. Linking and upgrading infrastructures, technologies and services in key urban sectors (transport, buildings, energy, ICT) in a smart way will improve quality of life, competitiveness and sustainability of our cities.  Besides working across the sectoral domains of ICT, energy and transport and mobility it is of equal importance to integrate actors across the innovation chain, to bring together the supply and demand side and engage citizens in planning decisions at an early stage.

Our focus for this conference is to create an international framework in order to develop the best solutions and to create a model of good practice for our communities.

JCI is a nonprofit organization of young active citizens age 18 to 40 who are engaged and committed to creating impact in their communities. About SMART & Innovative EXPO

The development of the community is supported by technological innovations, mobility grows with the help of transportation apps, and the costs are reduced by implementing ecological solutions for waste disposal, energy consumption and natural gas utilization.   This represents a “Smart City”, a concept in its early stages for the large cities of Romania, but an idea waiting to become reality, considering the accelerated pace of their development. As a result of this, the Romanian cities will follow the lead of the metropolises of Europe (Barcelona, London, Nice, and Vienna), Asia (Singapore) and the United States of America (New York) which will become genuine technological hubs by 2050.

“A “Smart City” is a city that faces the challenges in the wake of decreasing resource consumption combined with rising demands. The important changes have to happen in fields like energy, mobility and construction.”  – dr. Michael Haupl, Mayor of Vienna

The purpose of the Smart & Innovative Expo is to identify the best paths and initiatives to take in order to develop true “smart cities”, by means of the solutions displayed, the key-notes, the workshops and the visits to important companies located in Cluj. At the same time, we want to discover the most innovative digital solutions and technologies that can improve the quality of public and private services, while reducing costs and resource consumption in the following years.

We invite you to join us in analyzing the technologies involved in the development and support of these applications and solutions: Mobile, Cloud, Big Data, IoT, and Social Collaboration.

Cluj-Napoca, as part of the JCI Danube Conference and the JCI Romania National Convention, becomes the meeting point of developers of “smart cities”, direct beneficiaries and also civil society and representatives of local communities of the Danube countries, which come together to create a common ground for these solutions and applications destined for the cities of the future.
